Street track bike

Gav has just put this together for display in the shop. I thought you would like a look at it before it goes on display. No mudguard clearance gives this bike a sporty look. Please note the chrome work and the track end adjusters.

Keep this secret

This is a picture of a customers request for the frame Builder, sprayer and frame finisher ( Derek , Rob and Phil) name to be on the frame. I think it looks really good but in reality its very hard to do indeed. Thats why everyone asked me not to put it on the blog.

Letter from America

Here we have a picture sent in to me by Chris from Boston , Mass USA and I have put a quote from his letter below :-
I have been riding the new Mercian Audax Special for a few weeks, but only yesterday did I finally have a chance for a long ride, and to try it out off-pavement, both on dirt roads and on rocky tracks in a state forest in Easton, Massachusetts. I am happy to say that the ride is superb: stable, comfortable, and responsive to accelerating and climbing efforts. I felt the floating sensation of ease that marks the best of bicycles. It is quite fun and capable in the rough stuff. In regard to our discussion about the merits of 1970s fork geometry and today’s, you are quite right to have said the there are other ways than the new ones. It may be that 55mm offset would not work as well with a 23 or 25mm tire, but I will never know; with a 32mm tire, the bike tracks very well indeed.
Thank you Chris for your pictures and letter.

Gary from London Vincitore Track bike

Please find attached two pictures of my vincitore special track which I took last summer just after I had received it and put it together. needless to say the bike has been great, I changed to a fizik arione saddle after not really getting on with the B17 special; otherwise it is the same (despite a couple of small scratches (aargh!)). This wet weather is making me pine for a machine with mudguards though, and a rack, and a rohloff hub, and some chrome..... maybe next year eh?

Better late than never

Dave and Lydia sent me this email some time ago now. I have cut and copied there email for you to read. We bought the tandem over 16 years ago now after spending hours with Geof at the showroom discussing our requirements. Clocked 60mph once downhill in the Goyt valley/Peak district with absolutely perfect handling. Now covered over 60,000 miles with only tyres, chains etc replaced. That is what you pay for - quality. Tandemists and passers by still ogle at it as its still a real looker. Many, many happy miles. Thanks .

Picture sent to me by Carl

I quote from carls email .
Attached picture of my wife and her Audax Special somewhere in between Attersee and Gmunden in the Austrain lake district (Salzkammergut). I have a matching bike and we think they are the most comfortable bikes ever. Best money we ever spent. This year we flew into Slazburg and cycled to Vienna through the beautiful Austrain countryside.
